Job description

Responsibilities


Serve as leader and project engineer for assigned construction and operation and maintenance contracts.
Coordinates subordinate engineers, inspectors and surveyors in field surveillance and contract administration for a large number of contracts assigned to the Area Office
Thoroughly reviews plans and specifications, formulates and consolidates recommendations submitted by others and presents recommended changes to facilitate or improve construction during pre-award technical review.
Reads and interprets plans and specifications to ensure conformance of field construction and dredging with their intent
Plans and assigns work to field inspection force and survey crews and keeps them informed of proposed contractor operations.
Maintains liaison with contractor's representatives to keep updated on construction schedules and for planning inspections' services to meet contract requirements.

Job requirements

Qualifications


Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Coastal, Ocean, Structural/Geotechnical Engineering or parallel fields of Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering, Naval Architecture, and Coastal Geology
6 Years of related experience
Must have previous Army Corp of Engineers experience
AutoCAD or Civil 3D experience required
EIT or PE certification is preferred
Construction oversight experience desirable
Experienced with project work such as CAD workspace organization, coordination with team members, professional communications, research, and documentation
Coastal/Marine/Navigation design interest strongly encouraged
Familiar with coastal processes modeling and hydraulic software
Advanced education is a plus
Professional Certifications / Training is a plus
