Job description

Performs a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies. Works from work instructions, and uses hand and/or power tools. Makes continuity checks on work in process and completed.
Major functions: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
• Applies considerable language skills to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; presents numerical data effectively
• Assembles and tests mechanical, optical or electro-optical components and subassemblies following specified work instructions and procedures to ensure finished product meets established operational and cosmetic requirements
• May assemble parts primarily using soldering techniques
• Continuously performs visual inspections of materials for defects and conducts any range of functional tests and cleaning at prescribed intervals to ensure proper operation of various components during assembly
• Reports deviations from standard to appropriate resource for review, instruction and authorization and conducts quality inspection when warranted
• Participates in lean manufacturing efforts through continuous process improvement
• Routinely conducts training of Mechanical Assembler I and II employees
• Performs accurate data and record keeping
• Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures
• Applies considerable math skills to add and subtract two digit numbers. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight, measurement, volume, and distance
• Ability to work with RTV and epoxy

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Participates in a variety of meetings, committees and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve issues and maintains specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements and policies

Job requirements

Experience Required:
• 5+ years’ mechanical, optical or electro-optical assembly experience
• Demonstrated proficiency at operating 50% or more work stations as documented by training records
• Intermediate-level soldering with certification, if applicable
Education/Experience/Licenses etc.:
Education/Certification:
• High School diploma or GED
• If applicable, IPC J-STD-001 Solder certification required with soldering


Must be a US citizen, have a clean background check and able to pass a drug screen
