POSITION PURPOSE:



The Sr. Employee Relations Specialist will be responsible for assisting a team of Deputy Program Managers and Program Managers who oversee the full operations of a large government contract.  This individual will be heavily involved in human resources related issues and regulations while ensuring that the project hits all major deadlines and benchmarks. 



 



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:




  • Assisting employees and managers with questions regarding company policies and practices.

  • Recognize sensitivity, complexity and urgency of employee relations issues and take appropriate action, including providing sound guidance on a resolution and protecting sensitive information to the extent possible.

  • Advises and trains managers and supervisors in best employee relations practices and strategies for managing supervisor problems and employee grievances. Provide recommendations on topics of monthly or quarterly employee related training with managers and supervisors.

  • Review and approve progressive disciplinary notices. Escalate bypassing of progressive steps and/or terminations of employment and advising Management of recommendations.

  • Interpret Progressive Discipline Policy and other employment related policies to ensure consistent and fair application for improved employee morale.

  • Conduct prompt, thorough, neutral, accurate and defensible workplace investigations into allegations of misconduct, including but not limited to: harassment, discrimination, retaliation, insubordination, workplace violence, substance abuse, safety and security violations, and violations of company policy or procedure. Will be expected to conduct high-level workplace investigations on short timeframes ranging from simple to complex issues and escalating significant issues to HR Leadership.

  • Conduct counseling consistent with company policies and procedures and facilitate resolutions to employee related issues and concerns.

  • Track and log employee related incidents in company systems including ethics hotline.

  • Managing employee relations workflow including, but not limited to: scheduling, audits, documentation, communication with candidates as well as management team, documentation and follow up.

  • Ensures that exit interviews and new hire follow ups are completed timely. Reviews and identifies trends or concerns learned in exit interviews, turnover reports, employee engagement take-aways. Shares follows up with HR Leadership to determine how to address issues and trends.

  • Provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly incident reports to HR Leadership to determine potential trends or issues at company and client locations. Discuss action plans to prevent continuous or further issues.

  • Conduct weekly check-ins with Deputy Program Managers and Program Managers and document the weekly check-ins. Depending on the outcome of those check-ins, initiating any action items, etc.

  • Conduct and Assist the Program Manager on the monthly training topics and assisting in conducting or hosting trainings.

  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations. And continues to monitor new and upcoming applicable laws and discussed implementation plan with HR Leadership.

  • Acts as liaison between the employee and other departments within the organization to address issues and concerns regarding payroll or benefits.

  • Thorough understanding of dispute resolution and excellent documentation.

  • Assist in preparing for internal audits, reporting, and compliance reviews.

  • Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations.

  • Handle confidential information and matters of discretion in a professional manner.

  • Other duties as assigned.



 



QUALIFICATIONS:




  • Bachelor's degree - Required

  • 3-5 Years Human Resources experience as an HR Generalist or Manager- Required

  • 3+ Years of Experience with managing teams of 5+ direct reports - Required

  • Well versed in all employment regulations and laws on both federal and state levels. Organizational/follow-up skills and ability to prioritize and complete multiple and changing tasks simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism and a high degree of confidentiality at all times.

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Must have good time management skills

  • Ability to quickly and efficiently communicate information in a clear and concise manner

  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) preferred but not required

  • Thorough understanding of dispute resolution and excellent documentation.

  • Ability to remain tactful and calm in controversial and/or confrontational situations.



 



TECHNOLOGICAL ABILITY:           




  • Competent in the use of MS Word and Excel.

  • Competent in Outlook

  • Competent in Google platforms
