Is your idea of the “big picture” more of a massive billboard than a framed 8 x 10 photo? We’re seeking Sr. QA - Embedded Software Engineers who are ready to take control of large-scale programs and applications for one of our clients in Malvern, PA.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
The Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer for embedded is primarily responsible for planning and executing of our validation for third-party devices, performing certifications and device testing. They will adhere to our organizational certification and validation standards and to end-user requirements for our ePort devices. The role will follow agile practices and interact daily with developers and quality assurance members to test and certify devices, troubleshoot issues evaluate logs, and determine courses of action to evaluate the quality and performance of our devices. This role will be hands on.
- Testing, Validation and Certification: 50% of Time
- Plan, queue and execute our certification and validations with a small team.
- Perform validation and certification of our device line and our third-party vendors
- Perform manual testing of device (hardware) firmware
- Ensure standards of quality, scalability, performance, security and compliance with PCI and SOX regulations
- Discover, write, and collaborate on our validation and certification pipeline.
- Troubleshooting: 25% of time
- View application logs on Linux servers and troubleshoot exceptions
- View Logs on devices
- Write and execute SQL queries to ensure quality of products that use databases
- Troubleshoot product, application and system issues and define corrective actions
- Communication, Metrics, Documentation: 25% of time
- Perform product certifications with third parties such as payment processors
- Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured documentation for our certification, validation and testing strategies for the device line.
- Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate quality testing activities, and track QA metrics using Jira and Confluence
- Understand business logic and enforce customer requirements
- Find, record, document, and track issues, create and update QA documentation
- Supply end-to-end solutions to software quality problems
- Work and follow through with team members in different departments to test and troubleshoot our software: Quality Assurance, Engineering, Product Management, Network Operations, Customer Service, Sales, Marketing, Tier 2 Support, Fulfillment, etc.
EXPERIENCE NEEDED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS JOB
- B.S. degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or Mathematics, or equivalent work experience
- At least 5 years of experience in software quality assurance
- Experience testing hardware products such as medical devices, credit card devices, phones or tablets
- Operating systems: Linux, Windows, embedded systems
- Databases: Oracle, PostgreSQL, solid knowledge of SQL
- Software products: Eclipse, IDEA, Jira, Wiki or equivalent, PuTTY
- Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, automation frameworks, processes
- Experience in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and test cases
- Hands-on experience with both white box and black box testing, performance testing tools and automated testing tools
- Experience working in an Agile development process
- Payment processing experience
- Development Experience: JavaScript, Selenium, Java (not necessary)
- Knowledge of windows, Linux, api calls (soap and rest), host files, flat files, web sites and backend processing.
- Device testing skills with IPADs, Phones, Medical Hardware and or Credit Card devices are a base requirement
