REQUIREMENTS:
Master's Degree
Possess Board Certification by American Board of Radiology OR Be board certified by American Board of Medical Physics OR
Be board certified by Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics.
Possess a minimum of three (3) years' experience within the preceding five (5) years as a Radiation Therapy Medical Physicist in a setting of similar size and complexity.?
Provide two (2) letters of recommendation attesting to the HCW's clinical skills. Letters of recommendation must be written by any of the following: supervisory medical physicist, direct medical supervisor, or physician who has personally observed and evaluated the HCW and who can attest to the HCW's clinical skills. Recommendation letters must include name, title, phone number, date of reference, address and signature of individual providing the letter and must have been written within the preceding two (2) years.
Possess the requisite training to qualify as a Nuclear Regulatory Commission Authorized Medical Physicist under the requirements of 10 CFR Part 35.51.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform and direct the determination of radiation dose distributions for patients undergoing treatment. Ensure accuracy of the plans, dosimetry calculations, dose totals, and their documentation in patient’s charts. This includes 3-Dimensional conformal radiotherapy planning and delivery.
Ensure the function and the operation of the following technologies; Virtual Wedge, Electronic Portal Imaging Devices (EPID), Digital Reconstructed Radiographs, Virtual Simulation, and Multileaf Collimation, Tomotherapy, Stereotactic Radiation therapy and High Dose Rate Brachytherapy.
Meet radiation monitoring, quality assurance, and safety requirements to ensure compliance with licensure requirements, hospital radiation safety regulations, and national standards of performance.
SCHEDULE:
Services shall be provided Sunday through Saturday between the hours of 0645 and 1915. The HCW shall work variable shift hours between four (4) up to twelve and half (12.5) hours per shift, which may include weekends. Any shift that is longer than six (6) hours will include an uncompensated thirty (30) minute meal break. In no instance will the HCW exceed eighty (80) hours per two (2) week period.
Application process can be 3-6 months with the Navy.
This position is a 1099 independent contractor position that does not include benefits. Contract has 1920 hours (48 weeks) per year. Closed on holidays unless on call situation occurs.
