REQUIREMENTS:
License – Shall have a current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia) when services are performed onsite on VA property
Board Certification - All Contractor’s physician(s) shall be Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
Currently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalency.
National Provider Identifier (NPI): The clinician shall have or obtain appropriate NPI and if pertinent the Taxonomy Code confirmation notice issued by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) be provided to the Contracting Officer with the proposal.
DEA (as required) - Contractor shall provide copy of current DEA certificate before contract start date.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide comprehensive care to include diagnosis, treatment and education of patients with Neurologic disorders.
Evaluate, triage, and prioritize consult requests to ensure timely care for patients suspected of having disorders of the nervous system.
Coordinate medical management and care with Primary Care providers and other medical personnel in a multidisciplinary health care delivery system.
Perform, supervise and interpret results of procedures related to Neurologic disorders such as lumbar punctures, EMGs, and EEGs.
Lead the Code Stroke team in accordance with the facility stroke protocol
Perform administrative tasks as assigned, such as peer reviews, Compensation and Pension evaluations, and Ongoing
Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE).
Provide on call services as needed for after hours and weekend support.
Provide clinical supervision and support to any Physician Assistants and/or Nurse Practitioners working in the Neurology clinic.
Physician will be required to attend staff meetings, serves on committees, teams, workgroups, and peer reviews as requested. Completes CME, VA Training, HIPAA, Security training, and other training mandatory trainings.
