REQUIREMENTS:

  Degree/Education: The medical laboratory technologists shall have graduated from a college/university with a bachelor’s degree in laboratory science, chemical, physical or biological science.  The medical laboratory technicians shall have a certificate or higher level of training as a graduate from a medical laboratory technician program.  The training/education programs for both positions shall be accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or educational program acceptable to the American Medical Technologist (AMT).  The phlebotomists shall have a completed a donor phlebotomy program accredited by the Joint Commission or College of American Pathologist (CAP).

  Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: Must have and maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).  Basic Life Support (BLS) certification shall be from the American Red Cross (ARC).  Online courses do not satisfy the requirement for any training.  Recertification shall be maintained at contractor expense in a current status at all times while the HCW is performing services under this contract.

  Experience:  Minimum of two years of experience as a practicing hands-on provider in the last three years in their respective job. Time spent in an administrative capacity as a claims reviewer, supervisor, instructor, etc. does not qualify as practicing time.  The HCWs shall be capable of making draws and have a minimum of 50 draws with an accredited laboratory within the last two years.

  Board Certification: Proof of certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologist (AMT).
